Inside peanuts are vitamins, minerals, proteins and fats (all the good stuff) that are essential not only in developing a healthy body, but guarding against diseases too. If you’re the scientific type then below are just some of the facts.
Peanuts contain high levels of mono-unsaturated fatty acids, particularly oleic acid, which reduce ‘bad’ cholesterol (LDL) and poly-unsaturated fats which increase ‘good’ cholesterol (HDL). This plays a valuable part in preventing heart disease.
Maintain strong and healthy muscles
A variety of complex amino acids are required to build healthy muscles. Peanuts are a very good source of these.
Reduce carcinogens in the stomach
Peanuts contain high concentrations of poly-phenolic antioxidants, primarily p-coumaric acid, which helps prevent the formation of carcinogenic nitrosamines in the stomach.
Prevent degenerative nerve diseases
Peanuts are an excellent source of Resveratrol. Resveratrol has been found to have a protective function against Alzheimer's disease, viral/fungal infections and heart disease.
Keep the brain healthy
They are packed with many important B-complex groups of vitamins such as riboflavin, niacin, thiamin, pantothenic acid, vitamin B-6, and folates. 100g of peanuts provides up to 85% of the RDI of niacin, which contributes to brain health and assists blood flow to the brain.

Peanuts contain a high amount of vitamin E which helps maintain the integrity of cell membranes by protecting them from harmful oxygen free radicals.
Keep the body healthy
Peanuts are a rich source of minerals like copper, manganese, potassium, phoshphorus, calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc, and selenium, which all contribute towards a healthy body. In particular, potassium plays a key role in reducing hypertension.
So, now we have to unlock all this natural goodness and that’s where the roasting comes in. Not only does roasting the peanuts bring out their rich natural flavours, but there is an even more important reason - research studies suggest that boiling or roasting enhances the concentration of antioxidants in the nuts. It has been found that boiling or roasting peanuts can increase the level of antioxidants by up to 4 times the original amount!
We import only the finest quality nuts. The peanuts that then go into our peanut butter are hand-selected in our own factory, the bitter skins and any bad nuts being removed, so that you get the best possible taste out of every batch.
We use high quality rapeseed oil to roast the peanuts. Rapeseed oil, which has a variety of health benefits along similar lines to peanuts, does not affect the flavour of the mixture and allows the rich earthiness of the nut to develop to its full potential.
We roast small batches of peanuts at a time. Different batches of nuts require different roasting times, so care is taken to get it perfect before they go into the grinding stage. What we are looking for is that perfect golden brown colour found only on the top-secret Perrin’s peanut colour chart!
Once any excess rapeseed oil is removed and they have cooled, they go straight into the grinder. Grinding the peanuts straight after cooling locks in the rich flavours, which is exactly what we want.
Through the grinder they go and into the tub. So from selection to the lid going on, it’s less time than it takes to make a cup of tea and about as fresh as you can get.
Apart from the oil, nothing else goes into Perrin’s Peanut Butter – no stabilizers or emulsifiers, no salt or sugar or flavourings. This would only spoil the wonderful rich natural taste. 100% nuts = 100% natural.
If you don’t like the taste of peanuts, then sadly, Perrin’s Peanut Butter may come up a bit short. But if you want to unlock your natural goodness then we’d strongly recommend adding it to your daily diet.
